Google Chrome: A Browser Above the Rest
Google Chrome is a simple and clean web browser that has been out for just over a year. Some features of Chrome are that it allows you to have separate tabs in the same browsing window. The box at the top of Chrome, called an Omnibox, allows you to type in your web address or allows Google to guide you through search. The default homepage dynamically displays websites, based on how often you have visited them from your computer. Chrome even updates its list of malicious sites, to better protect against malware. Take a look at what Jacob Gube at Six Revisions has recently found by comparing the top five web browsers. His study found that Google Chrome 3 has the highest rated overall performance, while Internet Explorer 8 has shown to have the poorest. Details on his findings can be found on this site. Recently, Google has released Chrome 4 Beta. This is the fourth version of their new browser. Google Chrome is currently only available for the Windows platform and it supports Windows 7, XP, and Vista. A Mac version of Google Chrome will be coming out soon. A developer preview for the Mac can be downloaded here. To learn even more about Google Chrome or to download Chrome, click on this link. |
